Everyone is picking the Rams.
(Including me.)
I have yet to see a single "expert" pick the Panthers.
This makes me nervous.
The Rams are a better team:
- For several weeks this season, they looked like the best team in all of football.
- Matthew Stafford is favored to win MVP.
- Puka Nacua makes the most amazing catches you will ever see on a consistent basis, as well as having one of my three favorite names to say in 41 years of watching sports, along with Shaquille O'Neal and Dick Trickle.
The Panthers are an inferior team:
- They are 8-9, for chrissakes. (FTOYWDNFF: This is only the fifth time a team with a losing record has ever made the playoffs.)
- My mom's former student Bryce Young is not particularly good (relatively speaking) and this is his first playoff game.
- They had a point differential of -69 this season. That's NEGATIVE 69. They scored 311 points and allowed 380. That is atrocious. (The Rams, by contrast, were +172 on the season.)
EVERYTHING indicates a Rams win.
Which is why this shit makes me nervous.
UPDATE: The Rams won a thriller.
They were losing in the fourth quarter.
They blew a double-digit lead, which you may remember I call a "Sean McVay Special.
I do not expect they will win again until September.
