Spicy Dill Pickle Goldfish

These were WAY spicier than I expected them to be. I did not finish the bag. 

Props to Pepperidge Farm. They didn't fuck around with these. 

Pringles Bourbon BBQ and All Dressed

The Bourbon BBQ was bad and I didn't finish it. 

The All Dressed was okay, but not nearly as good as Ruffles All Dressed. 

I will not be getting either of these again.

Lay's Wavy Tzatziki

These are my favorite Lay's special edition in a long time - maybe ever. If you like tzatziki, definitely try these. 

Krispy Kreme Dr Pepper Football Donuts

Damn these are delicious. 

When I first moved to Santa Fe, there was a Krispy Kreme in town. It closed after I had only been here a few months and now the closest one is in Albuquerque, which is for the best. 

I could eat these every day. 

My Job Is Kind Of Hard To Explain

The Summer of Cerveza Sundays: Saturday, Monsoon, & Welcome Back College Football Edition

The Sunday Night Baseball game was Houston and Baltimore and I wasn't planning to watch. But more importantly, it was the first day of college football. 

So I moved my beer-tasting to Saturday.  

The scoring:

1: BAD. I didn't finish.

2: MEH. Probably not something I would ever get again.

3. GOOD. Would order if my only other choices are IPAs. 

4. VERY GOOD. Would happily drink any time. 

5. GREAT. Great. 

OSKAR BLUES MAS LIMA CERVEZA: 4

The salt flavor is restrained but the lime flavor is too bitter. Today is only in the mid-80s and I can feel a storm coming. On a Colorado day in the triple-digits, I could see this hitting the spot perfectly. 

New Mexico blew a 17-point lead and gave up two touchdowns in the final four minutes to lose at home to Montana State - an FCS team. (I know this only makes sense to a couple of you, but it was pretty embarrassing for UNM.) 

BOXING BEAR EL SOMBEARO:  5 

I came late to the party for Boxing Bear. I can’t really tell you why. But their beers are great. And this is no exception. It’s everything I want in a Mexican lager. Probably in the top five I have tried this summer. 

TREJO'S CERVEZA MEXICAN LAGER: 2

Way too sweet. Like a sugary Pilsner. What a disappointment. If I ever see Danny Trejo in person, I’m going to challenge him to a fight.  

(This is probably not true.) 

FALSE IDOL BREWING VIVA LOS VAQUEROS: 3

A little too sweet, but still pretty good. It’s entirely possible that I still have the taste of Danny Trejo in my mouth. Wait, that sounds gross. 

The rains came. 

8 ONE 8 BREWING MACHETE MEXICAN LAGER: 3

Too malty. If it did not advertise itself as a Mexican lager, I would like it more, but this is not what I think of with that description.

Normally I only include a closeup photo of the can if there is some relevant information, but I took one here because it's pretty.

The rains left.

 

As I have written before, I miss many of you reading this, but I am never again living away from the mountains. 

OGOPOGO BREWING LA LLORONA MEXICAN LAGER: 5

It doesn't taste like beer. It tastes like Mexican Squirt, which I love. 

Admittedly, I'm drunk. 

Pop Daddy Mexican Street Corn Pretzel Sticks

 

They don't taste like Mexican street corn. They taste like pretzels with a vaguely cheese-like powder. 

Which is still pretty good. I ate them all. 

Wednesday Apres

 

I started a Wednesday happy hour at work a few weeks ago when I realize a lot of the people who play on Wednesdays are really cool and would be fun to hang out and drink with. 

It is definitely one of my better ideas. 

Birdie's Classic Pimento Cheese

I thought this had to be great to cost $10.95. 

It was not great. It was fine, but the stuff I get at Albertson's for $2.50 is much better. 

Trader Joe's Bacon & Eggs Shaped Sweet Gummy Candies

As with pretty much all Trader Joe's gummy candies, these were delicious. 

Trader Joe's Tortilla Espanola

This is really good, but damn, I wish it were smaller. I split this with four other people, and all five of us didn't finish it.

Trader Joe's Pizza Seasoned Crackers

Very disappointing. Tastes like stale crackers topped with stale oregano. 

I added fresh cheese and basil. It still sucked. 

Do you know how bad a cracker has to be to still suck when you add fresh cheese and basil?

Trader Joe's Sweet Plantain Chips

 

A friend shared some of these with me last month and now I am addicted. 

Midtown Bistro

The owners of the club took me (and a coworker and his wife) here for dinner. 

So I didn't take as many photos as I wanted to, because that would have been weird. (I quickly and discretely snapped one of my crab cakes.) 

The food wasn't as good as I was expecting but the patio was fantastic.

Trader Joe's Steamed Vegetable Soup Dumplings

These are great and if you are a vegetarian, I highly recommend them. 

But the pork & ginger are better. 

(If you are a vegetarian, I highly recommend those as well, I suppose.)

Trader Joe's Crunchy Chili Onion Sprinkle Seasoning

It's good, but I don't get why you would buy this instead of the sauce. Whatever. I imagine this bottle will last me many years.
