The Chihuahan Desert is the largest desert in North America, a mystical place of small shrubs and large mountain ranges and small towns and cold beer. It is the wettest desert in North America, thanks to the summer monsoons. It is the most biologically diverse desert in the world, with more than 3,500 plant species.
And despite having spent more than half my life road-tripping around the American West, I have spent very little time in this desert.
So, when I planned to take a few days off this week, my first thought of course was Southwestern Colorado, as that has become one of my five favorite places in America.
But I have been there twice since January.
It is time for something new.
Stay tuned.
