Westcliffe sits at just under 8,000 feet, in the shadow of several mountains that tower above 14,000 feet.
It is an International Dark Sky community, and I was hoping for amazing photos at night but to be honest it was not any more spectacular than what I see on the property in Santa Fe most nights.
Also, although I stayed in a regular motel, I did not learn until after I had checked in that there is a combination liquor store/motel in town at which I could have stayed instead.
I am tempted to say "next time" but I don't see any way there will be a next time.
