The San Luis Valley is the largest alpine valley in the world. It covers approximately 8,500 square miles - roughly the size of New Jersey.
New Jersey has about 10 million people living in it.
The San Luis Valley has about 45,000.
The average elevation is 7,700 feet. In the distance on both sides are mountains, some of which tower more than 14,000 feet.
The landscape is covered with brush and grasslands, with cattle, horses, and even bison roaming around.
It is a nice place for a drive.
