I am not much of a breakfast eater, as you have no doubt gleaned over the years. My usual breakfast - by which I mean the breakfast I eat perhaps twice per month - is egg whites, turkey sausage, and hash browns.
Delicious. And extremely boring.
And I REALLY dislike breakfast restaurants.
Literally 99% of the times I have ever eaten at one as an adult involved a woman.
But this vacation was about slowing down the pace. And, you may not be surprised to learn after the last week of reading, I had a hangover.
This is my favorite breakfast restaurant to which I have ever been. Here are the reasons why:
1) The people who worked there were not the least bit pretentious, something they have in common with very few breakfast restaurants to which I have ever been.
2) It's on the second story. Restaurants on second stories are always better. Don't ask me why.
3) They had a bar at which single diners like me could sit.
4) And look out the window at snow-covered mountains.
5) They have an outdoor space. Outdoor spaces on second stories are always better. With this one, you can ask me why. It's because you don't have to deal with people walking by.
6) I ordered an iced coffee and received it within 20 seconds.
7) The Hurricane Ditka: the best breakfast burrito I have ever eaten.
8) I saw the ghost of my brother on the 6th anniversary of his death.
More on that last one tomorrow.
