106-60, Part II: Memories Are Films About Ghosts

I was going to Boulder to watch the World Series at the Dark Horse.

I doubt this surprises you.

The Yankees vs. Dodgers was a matchup so cool that I had to watch at least one game at my favorite bar in this world.

But first, I went out on Pearl Street for a few drinks because vacation.

I had not been into the bar of this hotel in more than 20 years but remembered it as being very cool, so I decided to have just one beer.

The bartender was the same bartender from the 106-60 night.

I had not seen him since leaving Boulder 24+ years ago.

He remembered me and asked how my partner was doing and I had to tell him what happened to Erik 20 years ago. We reminisced a little.

It was... not fun.

I will not make a big deal of this because I have mentioned it before, but that autumn, that night 25 years ago almost to the week, was one of the very happiest times of my life. And Erik was one of the best friends I have ever had. You all would have liked him. I suddenly missed him very much.

I did not want to go to the Pony any more.
