It would be hard to guess how many times I have driven through Pueblo, CO.
Probably somewhere between 40 and 50.
I've only stopped twice and neither were memorable or contained any local flavor: Once I went to Walmart for foods I could not get in New Mexico; the other time I got coffee at Starbucks.
I've briefly glimpsed downtown and the Riverwalk, and thought Someday, you should stop there.
This was the day.
The Riverwalk is modeled after the more famous one in San Antonio and, though it is not 10% as exciting, it is not humid - even when the temperatures are triple-digits, as they were here - and not crowded at all.
I walked around several times as I shuffled between bars.
And there were a LOT of bars.
