Three years ago, I ventured to Boulder for Wild Card Weekend.
Each of the last two years, I traveled to Pasadena.
I was debating what to do this year. I wanted to see several of you, and I wanted to eat at some of my favorite restaurants, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of returning to Pasadena in winter for the third straight year.
I love the longer, hotter days, and I was about 75% sure that I would rather spend this January vacation in the mountains and visit Pasadena later in the year.
And then my cousin Emma got engaged at the end of December and she told me that she was planning to get married somewhere on the Central Coast in autumn.
I don't feel the need to return to California twice in one year, so the needle moved to 100% for the Rockies.
If Emma gets married in autumn, I will come back to Pasadena for at least a week before the wedding. If the wedding looks like it's going to be in 2026, I will come back to Pasadena this summer.
Today, I am going north, starting with my usual base of debauchery in Boulder, and then to some towns in Colorado - and possibly Wyoming - to which I have not before been.
Stay tuned.
