Another place of which I had been aware for a few months but, being that it's out of the way - it's in Albuquerque, and not in an easily-accessible location - I had not been.
But this was a weekend for trying new things.
I have never seen a more expansive selection in a butcher shop. All of it is frozen, of course - it's simply not possible to carry this much stuff otherwise.
Some of the stuff is out there: rabbit, kangaroo, camel, and rattlesnake.
But it was fun. The owner shook my hand when I entered; he was wearing a firearm AND a knife. When I said it was my first time, one of the employees gave me a tour.
There were many things I saw that I wanted, but I only bought four things, and only three of them were meat:
I imagine each will get its own post.
The item I bought that wasn't meat? A cheese dip with caramelized onions that was delicious:
I will almost certainly return here. I won't know if it will become an every-time-I-visit Albuquerque place until after I eat the rest of the food.
