A storm was coming. It was what the Irish call a "soft day" - mist, slight rain, but no big storm. It was peaceful. I just wasn't in the mood for baseball. I wanted music.
The scoring:
1: BAD. I didn't finish.
2: MEH. Probably not something I would ever get again.
3. GOOD. Would order if my only other choices are IPAs.
4. VERY GOOD. Would happily drink any time.
5. GREAT. Great.
THORN BREWING BARRIO LAGER - 4
Very refreshing, but, like the Baja lager last weekend, a little too sweet. Maybe that’s what Baja means?I don’t know.I have only been to Baja once and Drank Coranoaand tecate. I was 18 and it remans the second-worse hangover of my life. I almost gave a 5 rating, but that's probably because I grew up in the barrio of Sierra Madre and I feel a special connection to the barrio. But I am nothing if not honest. My readers deserve that. So, 4 it is.
Way too bitter for a Mexican lager. I honestly consider giving it a 1. However, I love the label, I really like the brewery, and I did finish the whole beer. So technically, it can’t be a 1.
RATIO BREWERY CITYSCAPES MEXICAN STYLE LAGER - 3
Too malty. Not bad... just not Mexican-style.
KETCH BREWING MEXICAN STYLE AMBER LAGER - 4
It would be a three, because it’s a little too sweet for me, but it says “Amber” right on the can, and I have to give them props for honesty.
The sun came out and I thought it was going to turn into a gorgeous sunset. But it disappeared within 10 minutes.
CANTEEN BREWHOUSE - 4
I was ready to give this a 5, but after a few sips I realized it's just a touch too sweet on the back end. Still really good.
What a great way to end this session. Light, with a touch of Curtis, so refreshing. Bakersfield is not great but this beer is.
