In my early 20s, I lived with one of my best friends from high school, Tom. We frequently ordered Domino's pizza on Tuesdays because they had a "Two-for-Tuesday" promotion where you got two pizzas for the price of one.*
One day, I read in a magazine - probably Men's Health - that green peppers are one of the best pizza toppings because they are full of fiber, which helps digest the other, less-than-healthy toppings.
We took that, of course, to mean that if you got green peppers on pizza, it made the meal healthy. So we started ordering pizza with pepperoni and green pepper, which turned out to be a delicious combination, if not exactly the health food we made it out to be.
The other day was Tom's birthday, so I sent him a text with a photo of the dinner I had made in his honor: a lavash pizza throwback to those Domino's pizzas we used to order almost half our lives ago.
*There was another pizza place in the neighborhood called 2-for-1 Pizza Company, where pizzas were ALWAYS two for the price of one. To compete with Domino's, they started selling three-for-one pizzas on Tuesdays. So one night we decided to try them. It was truly awful pizza, one of the five worst I have ever tried, and we never got it again. Even at such cheap prices, it wasn't worth it.
