For many years, I have kept a list of my favorite Trader Joe's items since I became a diehard fan in 2002.
About half of the items - including my two favorite items ever from TJ's - are long gone.
Including the Chicken Lettuce Wraps which, in my memory, disappeared in 2006.
So when I saw these, I was ecstatic... until I took a closer look.
The lettuce in these is unattractive and limp, unlike the crisp iceberg from two decades ago.
The sauce here is a more of a chili sauce than the duck sauce it used to be.
And instead of crispy chow mein noodles, we now have rice noodles.
Still, I had to try this, just in case it was in any way a faint echo of those lettuce wraps I loved.
They're not.
They were not only a disappointment, but they kind of sucked.
I will never get this version again.
