There has been a mouse living in the grill for a while. I finally decided to just turn it up as high as possible, hoping that it would run away. And if it didn't and burned up, oh well.
I lifted the side burner cover to see four baby mice nursing.
This is one of those rare times in life when I truly didn't know what to do.
If I waited like one more month, I would have no problem burning alive non-baby mice.
But I didn't want to burn alive baby mice.
Interestingly, I had no problem picking it up with a shovel and flinging it 100 feet out onto the hillside - an almost certain death, even if it survived the launch. I have no problem with it being eaten by a bobcat, snake, or hawk.
Also, the next day Maggie killed another one of the mice. I have no problem with that, either.
I just didn't want to set them on fire.
